The event will take place at the home of the Montreal Irish Rugby Club in Sainte.Julie, Quebec.
The aim of this tournament is to bring together hurling teams from across Eastern Canada and Northeastern USA for competitive action to foster the development of the sport in these regions.
We are excited as this junior level 9-a-side hurling tournament will incorporate teams from both Canada and the US and is a first of its kind. This unique opportunity is thanks to the generous assistance from GAA headquarters and the Irish government through the Emigrant Support Program, and includes a bursary for teams traveling long distances to help them with costs.
It will be a 9 a-side event, with games of 20-minute halves. Teams will be limited to 14 players. The throw-in for the first game will take place at 11:00. As per GAA regulations, helmets are compulsory for all participants.. The hope is to have teams participating from Toronto, Quebec City, Ottawa, Halifax, New York State, Vermont, Maine and St. Johns.
Dressing-room facilities are available at the venue, as well as a bar service throughout the day. We will be hosting a post-tournament reception afterwards at our sponsor’s bar, Hurley’s Irish Pub. There will be awards, reduced drinks prices, finger-food and live music available on the night for all players.
With teams already confirmed from New Hampshire, Maine and Ontario, It promises to be a great weekend of GAA action.
