A chara

As you are probably aware, the GAA has been asked to play its part in the promotion of ‘The Gathering’, a Government initiative to attract people to Ireland in 2013 to boost the economy and create jobs.

As part of the GAA’s contribution at national level, we hope to organise a major competition to encourage people to travel home in 2013 and we want to consult with our international units as to an appropriate competition structure that would achieve this goal.

One suggestion, for example, is a nine aside competition for clubs from all over the world next August, with the finals being played in Croke Park. There may be many better ideas out there.

I would be grateful for your ideas and input into the structure/format of a tournament that would encourage the maximum participation of our international units.

Your ideas/input can be sent to teresa.rehill@gaa.ie by Friday, 8th June 2012.

Míle buíochas
